How do you make a set of tyres last a year?

it was just a figure of speech

but--- if liek me- you only ride the bike for pleasure its easy !..

in fact I could make a set last 5 years !.. if I did 20 miles a week !!

I simply meant on reflection-- if I knew how good the Z6 were I wudda ditched the Z4 from new even !...

Z4 should be banned!
I'm not sure the Z4 is actually a bad tyre, just the wrong choice for the SV. They are/were fitted to much heavier bikes like BMW 1200s where they have a good reputation.

Mind you, I really like the Dunlop 208s which I put on the SV and come as standard on my R6, and they have a poor rep amongst some people too. Horses for courses I guess - the Dunlops are cheap, I like them, and that's all that matters really!!

Loads of people have said this about the Z6 compared to Z4s or D220s. It seems until they actually experience it themselves (myself included) that they think it's an exagerration/can't really be worth it and wait till the old ones are worn out. It really is like a completely different bike and the grip in the wet is superb.

As mburnstead says, on other bikes, people reckon the other tyres seem to work quite well. It's just that they seem a poor choice for the SV.

Why for you say this? Vipers are great in the wet, despite our Mondello disappointment the fairly rapid wet ride through Wales was a small consolation.

I know they're great in the wet, but recently, I'm not.
For the past 9 months I've only done a few cross country trips. I simply don't need the bike for my day to day life.
That all changes a week from today, when I have to start commuting, for the first time on a bike.
