Havign ridden on one, I totally disagree... Though it wasn't close to the Ohlins either.
Admittedly I have not ridden an SV with a Hagon shock but have had them on a Zephyr 550 and a ZX4 and found the damping overall quite poor. You get a firmer ride( ZX didn't need that though ) but ability to soak up square bumps especially was not good.

Also have had a Technoflex on a Bros 650 and I'll rather pay that little bit more as I feel you'll get more for your money all told .

Cheers
Ben

Got Hagon front and rear. Front brakes are now reliable (very little fork dive on the prog. springs and 15W oil) allowing much harder corner entry and rear is now rock hard, no mid-corner wobble and excellent manners under power.

Has turned the bike into quite the little evil thing, very nice.

Have ridden bikes with all round Ohlins (not an SV). It is a better setup but, the improvement is incremental rather then astounding, eeking out the last few percentage points of performance over something like Hagon, for twice the price. The economics do not justify it.

The base models from the other manufacturers I mentioned are no where near twice the price of the Hagon shock. Same adjustments plus more with one of them.

Cheers

Default New rear shock

I am thinking of getting an ohlin shock for the rear. I have ridden a Mille R which had the ohlin suspension all round and it was fantastic. However, my question is this - if you buy the ohlin does it come with a guide for the settings. I don't want to buy one, fit it and then guess the settings until it feels right. Silly question probably, but what comes with it - assuming I buy it from a reputable dealer rather than Ebay or similar.

You do get a bit of usable adjustment on the SV one, but the adjustment itself's a bit compromised I think- there's not true seperation of compression and rebound.

How much are the other shocks, out of curiosity? I've totally lost track.

£300 for Hyperpro, WP, Nitron emulsion units

You can keep your hagon shocks for Z1's, GS1000's and lardy GPZ's all are built to the same standard and technology of the Hagon unit

..and to that you can add the Technoflex which comes in at about £325 IIRC. An extra tenner gets you ride height adjustment as well I believe.

Cheers

Thought WP was much more than that, very interesting. Best price I'd seen till now for Nitron was £345 for the lowest spec one too.

(The Hagon N, by comparison, is £250, just in case anyone was wondering)

From my exprience the Technoflex dont seem to last very long before the sh*t themselves and there's no-one in the uk dealing with them anymore

I don't understandexactly what you mean by 'sh*t themselves' -loss of damping , blown seal.

The one on my sv650 had over 15000 miles (all weathers)and still going before I had it serviced.

They do indeed have a UK importer.

Cheers
