I've used AVG for years without issue - highly recommended.

I use it in conjunction with the free version of ZoneAlarm firewall, also highly recommended.

I've used AVG for a year or so now, and not had any problems with it. It seems to be ok on machine resources as well, unlike Norton which seems to have a big impact on things.

However, AVG only finds about 50% of the EICAR range, which makes me a little nervous. i spoke with the developers on the support site, and they were quite responsive, but they said that as a lot of the threats were old, it didn't matter. That didn't make sense to me.

If you're an IT numpty (no offence meant, and it doesn't look as if you are), I'd try something else other than AVG, but if you're not going to click something just to see what happens, I'm sure you'll get on fine with AVG. Can't beat the price, certainly.

Rupert.

Use some common sense when you download it though, a friend of mine downloaded what he thought was AVG from a warez site, and it turned out to be a front for a virus
