my mate did that, his inurance co wanted pics of his "damaged" lid...
Its amazing what you can do with a hammer and dropping it a few times on a hard floor.

Get a new lid from the insurance. I dont think they look at the actual cost of a claim, just that it was a claim.

If you damaged your lid and get killed again because of it, you cannot argue then :P
