I was wondering if anyone out there has done this mod and if so was there a noticeable difference in power in second and third gears sorry if this subject has been covered before but its the first Ive heard of it :
TBH no racers use it and as its a cheap and fairly easy mod to do if it was worth it then they would be doing it. TBH you'd be lucky to notice the difference and i have seen plenty of bikes running rough with the mod than running better.

Spend your money on a larger tooth rear sprocket some tank raisers and an air filter far better gains for your money and the extra 2 teeth on the rear sprocket will give you more umph you will be smiling

Default What TRE is good for

Since the retard works only in 2nd and 3rd, and since it doesn't work at WOT, racers don't find it useful. After having tried it both ways on a 1st gen bike what I can say is that it improves gas mileage in city driving. Dyno results are well within normal error, so I don't know if it really produces more power or not. And if it does, it's in a limited range.

1st and 2nd generations are different, so beware which wires you clip.

as the 'main site how to' is for the Curvy, can you tell us which are the wires on a pointy to cut?
Thanks

Could you or Jonboy please explain why this mod cannot be achieved by riding in a lower gear? Or do you accept it is only effective in first gear?

Put it this way... I think the RRP of the G-Pack is £90. By contrast, a set of carbed model intake cams is around £50, and instead of giving you a ghost of more power, sticking those in the exhaust side gives you more power everywhere, average of around 5bhp, as well as a longer peak. Spending money on a g-pack does not strike me as wise.

Because when you do the mod and ride in a lower gear it would still pull harder than riding in a lower gear on std gearing. Thats why racers change their gearing to suit different tracks. At snett where i want max top end revs i use a 15/44. At Lydden where i want maximum low down punch i use 14/46

Thanks, that helps, it's just a case of matching your gearing to the circumstances you mostly ride in.

I've disconnected the two wires from the gearbox, cheaper than buying a "box". I reckon it depends on how aggresive you ride as to whether you'll feel any difference.
