you have to take the calipers off to take the wheel off [to change the tyre]

Although the implications of what happened to you could have been quite serious, on a slightly humorous note. ..

I had a calliper bolt come out on my minimoto a couple of weeks back … when I hit the brakes for the hairpin, the calliper span on the other bolt, jammed on the front wheel and spat me over the bars

My mate was following me with a helmet cam, he has just caught the event (might be worth watching it a couple of times as it is almost off shot).

Go for kicking up a stink - it is not acceptable and could have killed you.

It happened to me about a year ago and I regret not kicking up a fuss as the dealership concerned got away with a freebie race can and some fork polishing and still talk down to me!!!

It is Gross Negligence, they have a duty of care to you

you could have died or killed someone due to this negligence...if you dont kick up a fuss about this you are saying that its ok for this level of workmanship to exist..you are due some sort of compensation, free services, goodies, something, otherwise take your story to the local paper...not a nice thing to do, if it were me it would be that or a good kick in the boll@x

glad you escaped fairly intact, you should be proud of your quick reactions

Er, that’d be me … hehe. To be fair I had never had cause to undo the bolts, but I will certainly be checking them for tightness often in future!!

Anyway, I shouldn’t hijack this more serious thread any more … but I will start a new one elsewhere as in this/my instance the outcome it is quite cool/funny
