Nah, pointy and curvy are pretty different, the pointy has a ridiculous one-piece cover which makes it impossible to access the clutch without draining the coolant, while the curvy has a 2-piece one which trades that problem for congenital oil leakage.

![]() I think i might do the buy a spare one and try to make a clear cover. I cant imagine itd be too hard, as long as you can find a way to seal it all perfectly without it coming apart and bits grinding the engine :S They do look ace ![]() |

Just a note, you do need to use polycarbonate for these sort of windows into engines. OK for continous use around 130C.
Perspex (Plexiglas etc trade names for PMMA) isn't up to it, it'll yellow quickly and will soon crack with the temp. Only rated up to about 80C. (Trust me, 25yrs in engine development ![]()

As northy said, the pump is bolted to it and the water pathways are behind on the case.

With a nice cnc machine lathe it would be a doddle to make a good job of course. Good old handcrafted methods for me tho. There is room between the cover and clutchplates, that's not a great problem. What is tho, is that the cover is slightly convex outside and the intersection of the oil filler plug. The cover is a bit thinner there so be careful with your seal. This thread might just give me the impetus to restart this, it's overdue an oil and filter change anyway. ![]() |
