Were the WMA files created by media player on your PC (i.e. you ripped them from an original CD)?

IIRC there's an option somewhere in the settings of media player that can add some kind of ID tag to the files that means they can only be played on your PC and not on any other device such as another PC, mp3 player etc. It'd also explain why you PC will play the files stored on the MP3 player, but the player itself won't. I'd check for this option if I were you...

EDIT: just found the option - In media player 10, go to tools > options and select the 'rip music' tab. There's a check box about half-way down marked 'copy-protect music'.

This might help.
The iMP can only cope with a single level of folders. This means that all you can put into the 'Music' folder is individual track files, not further folders.
If you want to keep tracks in their own folder (eg album name), you have to put the folder onto the iMP's drive alongside, not in, the 'Music' folder. Make sure that the folder you drop is a single folder, not eg an 'album' folder inside an 'Artist' folder (which is what WMP gives you).
The folders you add are accessed by selecting 'Music', then a short press on 'Mode', selecting 'local folders' and there they are (with the 'Music' folder). Select the folder you want with 'Mode', and Bob's your uncle.
There is a limit to the number of folders you can have and a limit to the number of files in each folder (99 in both cases, I think).

the issues are easy to resolve, just call the support line - 0871 7800079.

The main issue is Windows media player may be set to copy protect any music you burn, hence when you are trying to play back it will not are the MP3 player is not DRM.

Go to tools on win media player , then options and make sure you disable the copy protect feature, once this has been done you will need to re burn your tracks again.

trust this helps, if not then call the number above which is the Inovix support line

There also might be a limitation on what bit-rate it will play back. It could be that it won't play back anything higher than, say, 192 bit.

Wow.

Thanks Red Ones - if you transfer a full album folder it objects. Tansfer individual tracks and its just fine

Incidently I found the protect feature on the media player and it was already turned off.

The wifes off downloading lots of music now Thanks again

You're welcome

Sony PSP has a similar issue - though the problem is that music, video etc has to sit in an appropriately named folder. (What is hard to find out is what the folder has to be called as you need to create the folder yourself!)
