I once got a puncture the day before I changed tyres. What are the chances of that? Used up all my biking luck in one fell swoop

I have just moved house and the lane I use to get to my garage is often covered with broken glass. I end up having to kick a path wide enough for my bike's to get through out of the glass every other time I go out. I'm worried I'll miss some and get a flat. What's the correct tyre pressure to help avoid picking up glass/nails? Slightly over-inflated, isn't it? (I know it'll result in more tyre wear, but I've got a brand new front on it that I don't fancy getting a flat in)

What's so lucky about changing your tyre the day after you get a puncture, that's the normal course of action, isn't it?

I know what you meant really.
