I prefer the "S", mostly because it looks a lot better than the naked one (in my eyes)...
I had some problems with my wrists because of the clip-ons. Managed to ride about 80 km before i had to stop and rest. I ordered a "LSL Superbikekit" from Louis with a new top yoke and handlebar, so now the bike is perfect for me
It is a little more windy with the higher bar, but a lot more comfortable.

Faired.

The wind protection makes it so much less knackering it easily outweighs the issue with slightly longer gears (easily fixed though) and besides the longer gears will be better for a less buzzy ride out on open roads - something that does my head-in on my current bike.

Again compared to my bike the comfort on the SVS in relation to the bars is fantastic! The uncomfortable bit is the seat and thats the same on the naked too.

So get the faired and a better seat and if you want to do more hooligan and less touring change the gearing.

Except for the neck pain at high speeds and sore bum at long rides , my naked SV is very comfortable !

Never had a back/wrist/shoulder pain from riding the bike , unlike clipon bike's that awake some old injuries on wrist and elbow .

Faired would be better for higher speed motorway riding but ...........................nakeds have more fun

I bought my first bike "SV650S" 2.5 weeks ago and have covered 1080 miles on it already with no real discomfort. I travelled 185 miles over 2 days 2 up and that was a wee bit awkward but not really uncomfortable. I like the faired version for looks and for 80mph+ riding in relative comfort.

S for the looks and protection, then if it is not as comfy as you want, try this;

I did and love it to bits

I'm 5'10" and have trouble adjusting to the riding position on my 05 SV650S , the handlebar reach is too long for me, so I'll have to stretch out to get a relaxed grip on the bars - causing back pain. And also causing me to sit on the very front of the seat and put too much pressure on my inner thighs.

I've already put on Buell footpegs, these made for a more relaxed leg position.

So for me , I guess the N would have been a better choice. One of those comfort kits also looks like it would help a lot.

I have a naked. Really good for riding around town etc. Comfortable riding position, only that god-forsaken seat that is painful. But I commute 60 miles on motorways now, and I am REALLY wanting fairings. So it depends what you want it for. Zooming around the countryside is still fine though.

Default Thanks for the advice.

I like the fairing. However, I am 5'8" with short arms so the stretch on the S to the bars may be a problem and I thought that when sitting on a S in the shop. I know I need to ride one of each but there are no demonstrator bikes available at present. Bikes have become much more popular in the last 3 years as the older group is returning to two wheels. Good second hand bikes are holding their value if you can find one.

My choice may be a naked with a screen?
