There are 3 setups:
1) 2 lines: 2lines down from a double banjo @ the master cyliner, 1 line down to each caliper 2) 3 lines: 1 line from master cylinder to OE splitter attached to bottom yoke, then 1 line to each caliper (exactly the same as OE setup, just with braided lines) 3) 2 lines: 1 from master cylinder to one caliper, then a double banjo into the caliper and a short length of line from this caliper to the 2nd caliper. It's unlikley to make a lot of difference but worth bearing all in mind for neatness etc. I seem to remember that Mr Squid felt that option 3 had the smallest possible length of line, and thus technically the smallest potential for expansion in the brake lines, but with any decent line I doubt it will matter much. I also seem to remember reports of the HEL 2 line (option 1) kit having lines that were longer than people wanted, but that could have been resolved by now and I don't remember which SV650 models were affected

First off make sure that HEL is the way to go - I bought their SV1000 kit - & it was CR*P !!
![]() 1 banjo bolt was totally wrong angle and all the lines were too long - by about 4 inches in the case of the rear !! ![]() Swapped for a 2nd kit - just to make sure I hadn't got a duff one - exactly the same !! ![]() Ended up going to my local shop & buying a made-to-measure Goodridge set - actually cost a few quid less as well !! ![]() The only drawback with this is that you obviously have to take the lines & bolts to the shop with you so that they can measure the length & check angles etc. For no reason other than simplicity & neatness I use JAMBO SETUP No.3 Finally, plain braided looks best unless you're gonna TOTALLY colour co-ordinate your bike - which given that no-one seems to use the same shade as anyone else might prove rather difficult (& expensive !! ![]()

If you want to keep the paint on top of your front mudgaurd, then go the three lines front and original splitter route. I tried re-routing my two line front kit to stop it rubbing paint off the top of the front mudgaurd but, despite my best efforts, it just rubbed more paint off in new places. It's mainly due to the usual problem with HEL lines; they are simply too long. Personally I think the quality is good, other than this obsession they have with making sure they aren't too short and ending up too long

Major point I'd make is to make sure you get stainless steel ends on the brake lines. Colour-wise I'd stick with either silver or the black-ish grey if they do it.
I see that nobody seems to have pointed out that a 2 line setup is generally cheaper... |
