Tim - USV is right, there are far too few individuals now cos everyone has this team mentality. Nobody wants to take decisions, taking decisions by committee is ineffective.

I think you've got what it takes to be MD. After all, how many MDs have you come across who are team players - ie, yes-men?

Not wishing to get shout at here but this is my advice to you cause I have been there and have been and am a manager of some sorts....ie I have people that I manage

From what they said I would suggest that you see the constructive side of the appraisal. Being a techie doesn't sell a lot these days unfortunately BUT I would suggest that from now on you disprove them by becoming a team player.

As such it doesn't mean that you will not be taking decision as you did in the past BUT try and show that you are interested in what other people have to say ( most of the time with you being the expert they will probably chat cr@p but give them the chance to say it cause then it looks like you are interested in the TEAM MENTALITY)

An MD is not a TEAM PLAYER as a yes-men but he doesn't make you feel neglected or not worth speaking to.

It took me sometime to get into this mentality and its certainly not something I follow outside work. But if it helps me progress in my career then so be it.

It's all politics unfortunately whether we like it or not. If you don't like it then start your own business!

Bl**dy Nora ---sounds like school reports. Just glad I work for myself and my appraisal comes as ££££££££ and I'm def not a team player as I don't suffer fools lightly and will be dammed if I'm going to carry some numpity-----Cruel but true
