I've only ever seen one on the road(m25) and it made my stomach turn...it still does when I remember seeing the bloke being "worked on" by the paramedics at the side of the road with the air ambulance coming in to land

went past one on the north circular (about a mile fromt he ace) on friday: two lanes coned off, police all over the place - a green kwak & a black audi tt - kwak was trashed & there was a lot of green on the audi no sign of the rider but the car driver - youngish woman with a small child - looked absolutely distraught

made me think ... made me think that that's why I rarely ride fast on the road .. & went to mallory the next day to ride like an idot

There was a bad crash in Manchester city centre last Friday. A Corsa went into a Triumph Tiger almost head on. The triumph came out much better than the car but the rider died.

It doesn't really affect me but I would never encourage someone I know to ride.

What time was that ? Also which side of the Ace - Hanger lane or M1?

Was wondering why it took me an hour to get from West Ealing to the M1......

Reminds me of a time a few years back when I was driving down Lee High Road towards Lewisham. Coming up to a pedestrian crossing I saw a red Ford Fiesta parked within the confines of the controlled zone (zig-zag lines). Got closer, driver gets back in, I think he was delivering something to a shop, and starts to make a U-turn, again within the zigzag lines! I'm thinking what a tw@ and as he is half way across i.e. 90 degrees to the rest of the traffic I just see a bike coming in the opposite direction filtering between the two lanes of traffic. Bike slams into nearside wing and is left standing on its nose while the rider luckily for him is catapulted over the bonnet, flies past my window and bounces and slides to a stop about 15 yards up the road. Fortunately the traffic had cleared and he didn't hit anything, he was out cold but as far as I am aware made a full recovery.

For days every time I blinked I saw this body flying past, was a bit un-nerving. Anyway I was called as a witness, the driver never even turned up for the case but was banned for a year.

There's a motorbike breakers in Macclesfield full of crash damaged bikes, some pretty bad - must've been fatal.

I sometimes think motorbike dealers should be required to display one of these bikes alongside the shiny new dream machines to get new bike buyers thinking more about what can happen if you aren't careful.

But I am a boring middle aged old fart !

The state of the bike doesn’t necessarily have a direct correlation with the riders injury. I have see bikes dig in, cartwheel and destroy themselves, yet the rider has just slid on their behind, come to a halt and picked themselves up!!! I am sure there are examples where the bike looks ok and the rider was a fatal! Basically it’s not what the bike hits, its what the rider hits!!

As for the bike shop thing, do you think we should make tobacconists hang up a set of dead smokers lungs? Do you think a wine merchant should hang up a damaged liver?!?!

Er no, is a life choice, its so publicised only an idiot could not know the potential risks, and an idiot would ignore them anyway!!

I've never seen a bike accident - apart of course from my own I won't go into it all again now but basically I low sided my SV on a left hand bend. When I could get back on I was so much more careful, rode much slower, severe loss of confidence. I'v been round that bend since (A464, Telford to Shifnal) and I wonder how on earth I could have crashed on such a good bend.
