It's always the same when the weather turns and winter comes, the first time I put my heavy gloves on it feels awful and like I'm riding in boxing gloves, but soon after all is well again and I'm used to it. Then summer gloves feel strange for a while again.

It can take a while to get used to them, but you can ride every bit as finely in winter gloves as in summer gloves.

the gloves are actually quite thin leather goretex, but they're still thicker than my old Fox Downhill MTB gloves. I've got some inners for the cold weather. I'm getting used to the gloves now although I'm struggling to hit the indicator button a bit. The boots are going to take much longer to get used to.

Next thought is my wet weather strategy as I'm currently riding round in an Alpinestars summer jacket and HG summer pants. I could get some textile waterproof trousers and a cheapo "mac" to go over my summer jacket. I can't really afford a whole new set of wet weather gear with armour in it. Of course the other option is an all in one but I'm struggling with the image of me walking round in a giant romper suit (I'm 6"1' and 17ish stone). I have no other mac type coat so it makes sense for me to have one for non bike use too.

I just got an Aerostich Roadcrafter II, two-piece (top zips to bottom), last week. Had never worn anything but jeans (and sometimes waterproof pants) and a jacket. It felt funny the first couple days, hard even to swing over the bike because the fabric is pretty stiff.

But it's getting a LOT better already. I'm a daily commuter, so it shouldn't be even a month before it's comfortable and very familiar.
