I have heard of big end failures caused by low oil or excessive wheelies. I have also heard of broken cranks caused by ham fisted (footed) downgearing at the rev limit. I have not seen the cranks myself, so I can't comment on what part broke.

As well as the oil starvation issues, they sometimes snap near the flywheel... Not common that, but if you're throwing a lot of boost at it it's maybe worth considering. Hardly anyone's turboed SV engines so it's not something you'll find a lot about specifically I think... What sort of power numbers are you reaching for?

I haven't even committed to going turbo, but I wouldn't bother if I couldn't get at least a 50% power increase. 100% would be preferable, so 135-140hp. Then again, I would like the engine to last a while, so I may just rebuild it and not use forced induction. My MegaSquirt fuel injection computer is tied up on another engine anyway.

Hmm, 50% might be doable. 100% would require stronger rods/crank at least, and maybe a better oil pump.

As anyone might have expected from my lack of activity,I let the worn-out engine pass by.

I'm still searching for the stock injector flot rate, though........
