Paris -Dakar is something I would really love to do. Such a logistical headache though and not cheap to enter. But what an achievement just to finish.
Purely by coincidence I met a customer yesterday who is a French guy, he finished on a KTM last year in 55th position. What a nice guy and how he enthused about the challenge for a privateer in such an event. It's like climbing mountains, running a marathon...it is facing up to the challenge. Superb. |

I met Charley and the producer Ross at the Scottish bike show last year and they were talking about doing the Long Way Down, going through Africa. This might have been replaced by Paris - Dakar cos EM was busy filming, can't remember.

Yep - Santa dropped me in a copy on his rounds !! - Very good and worth a view. The only thing that spoiled it for me was Charlies endless and pointless repetition of the "F" word. Why does he feel the need to "F" this and "F" that ? You don't hear any of the other members of the crew swearing ALL the time. I seem to remember he was the same on the Long Way Round DVD
In my opinion it spoiled the DVD especially as my 12 year old daughter likes to watch it. Its a shame I have to cringe when ever Mr Boorman opens his foul mouth ! ![]() Good story line though. ![]() |

I got the book for my Birthday but still haven't got round to getting the DVD. I was told it's not as good as long way round as it's mainly helmet camera work.

Watched it over Christmas, bought it for my dad. I think it's good. Nowhere near the quality of Long Way Round, but this is a different ball game. But yeah, Charleys "F**ks" are a bit too much.
For those who don't have it, buy it! |
