Yeah. I find totally ignoring Sid's advice to generally be the best option.

I mean, seriously, what's the worst that can happen?

to be honest, my local tyre fitter wouldnt repair that, as they will only repair whats in a 3rd from the centre of the tyre.

had 2 plugs in my oem tyres the done from the inside ones (m8 works for tyre shop)
went over a big staple type thing so 2 holes about 2" apart same sort of place on tyre
lasted ok for about 4k before i got the raod attacks but would stress get the inside out ones
as the others can work free

so i would get some one in the know to look at it for you and tyre weld is a big no imho
unless stranded in the woolie backs

I can't really argue with SS post as points made are all good advice.

Saying that I've always fixed my flats myself. If I can't fix it then it's time for a new tire. Cost me roughly a pound, safe as for me and NO I've not got a one bob head .

Apophes, have you ever seen and heard of a crafty plugge(stringy type plug) failing? just curiuos. I've never had one and I've been using them for almost ten years now. That includes a 200Kg plus(wet) beast.

Cheers
Ben

Thing is, if a patch does fail, all that this usually means is that you have your old hole back. Did you die last time? It seems not. A tyre that depressurised fast enough to be dangerous probably wasn't patchable anyway.

Problem with getting the pros in on it, is that they have a vested interest in selling you a £100 tyre instead of a £5 patch. Problem with not getting the pros in on it, is that most of us haven't a clue

You cant fix that tyre!

its in the wrong place and most bike shops will say it cant be fixed! its too close to the edge of the tyre. (just change it)

3000 miles from a standard Diablo?! I get about 6000 from mine and that's a mix of all kinds of riding.
