I know where you are coming from re commuting on summit like that. A real gap buster. What about a 650 bros? Even thinner but a more upright riding position and proper flat torque curve. V2 tho'. Nothing like the ****ey revere/ntv weak pish we UK suckers got

Sounds bloody good on STD pipe too when wound up. I'm 6 ft and found it OK for an hour or so but then my back started to play up. Much better at Motorway speeds and above as weight is taken off your wrists. You might need to gear it down a tad for commuting as 1st gear is quite tall. I'd have mine back tomorrow if my wrists hadn't been damaged, not to replace my SV just for something different.

PS Well set up it handles like a dream too.

I think they sound horrid on a stock pipe (but then most bikes sound lame that way ) ... but with a race pipe, a foam filter and removing the 'snorkle', boy does it growl ... very addictive!

As for 1st gear, have to agree there, the first thing I did when I got mine was drop a tooth on the front sprocket. But then I did that on the SV too

them little jap 400 look sweet, i rode one some years ago and dispite its age its handling was pin sharp and rock solid, they hold there used prices well but are a pain to work on if you get trouble.

You certainly can throw them around!

Luckily Honda's never go wrong ... the VFR/RVF have gear driven cams, so they are even more bulletproof!

They do look like fun, just one point that I noticed last time I followed one on the way to work ... the rider (and he wasn't holding back by any means) was struggling to see over/round the cars ahead to pick his gaps, probably not a huge problem, he just looked quite funny blasting up to cars, then having to pop his head up to spot the next gap to head for.
