London Cyclists...

Would really like indicators and a brake on my push bike. Anyone know if such a setup exists to buy?

Have seen Brake lights for Push bikes before, simple switch activated by the brake lever which turns on a light, haven't seen them for years though, but I guess they might still exist somewhere. Never seen indicators though. Use hand signals and get reflective strips for arms, it will probably be more noticeable.

Before I was allowed on the roads by my Parents on a bicycle I had to do a cycling proficiency test (remember them?), was remarkably like a CBT for bicycles. I was about 9 or 10 at the time.

I do, but sometimes you need to have both hands for the brakes.

If I can get to the front at a set of traffic lights, that's where I'll go... queuing up for tolls, etc is another matter. I won't charge to the front.

As a cyclist, a pothole really can be more of a hazard than swerving to evade it- if you hit one badly, it can throw you off or leave you basically out of control, and that's worse than a quick controlled swerve. Highway Code says that you should always give a cyclist the same space that you give a small car, for exactly this reason- they need to have space to evade hazards that would be irrelevant to other road users. They're also very vulnerable to wind, which can cause them to change direction unannounced. And a lot of them are utterly rubbish, which can also cause them to change direction unannounced You give taxis and white vans special consideration since they're all barking, you have to do the same for cyclists.

Still. Not sticking up for this particular cyclist, London cyclists are all insane. One of the most dangerous cycling environments in the world, and they insist on making it worse. I rode daily for years, and never had any problems since i'm not a cretin- so it always stuns me when I see the ridiculous stuff some of these guys get up to.

I filtered at passport control in Dover. That made some car drivers happy

Now that's just downright rude...

As for the cyclist, I tend to try and watch ahead for anything that might affect any vehicle I'm passing just in case that sort of thing happens. It's difficult to watch everything at once though.

I give cylcists loads of room if I possibly can. Also, I don't enter the green bits at the front of junctions. However, at junctions where there aren't green bits you do still find cyclists (and scooter riders) cutting in front of you.

It's just not very thoughtful, or sensible.
