Mine is 5.6 which really surprised me as I eat very healthily (apart from the exceptions below) and do lots of exercise (either gym, run, swim or Mrs Tricky's stepper machine) at least 3 times a week).

I do have a weakness for cheese, crisps & biscuits (although not always at the same time)

I don't think I have any cholesterol - is there any in a good Latte?

If you've got a Lloyds Pharmacy near you they do a free MOT - they check cholesterol, for diabetes, blood pressure n simple stuff like that.
I keep nagging my housemate to go as he's at risk with hereditary factors...

... as well as being a lazy tubby couch-potatoe.

So anyway - what's it supposed to be?

Don't make any difference, Mr Cuffy. You can be as thin as a rake and have a serious problem.

I found the hardest part was not eating anything for 12 hours - it buggers up the levels if you do, and the nice practice nurse won't do the test if you confess to a bowl of Cheerios.

Thats interesting, no one told me that. I had my test a 9:00 am. At 7:00 pm the evening before I had a lovely big juicy pork chop covered in pesto !
Plus I had my normal breakfast (cup of tea and a bowl of shredded wheat) at 7:15 am on the day of the test.

Mine last measured was 5.9 (Fasting)

However, my missus was always a good 3. something that used to **** me off as we obviously have the same diet and similar lifestyle re exercise, alcohol consumption etc. and then went up and up last test a few weeks ago was about 12.6. Amongst her many pills, she now takes statins in the hope of keeping the cholesterol under control. BTW she is now out at the hospital having her monthly blood test done

well ive been good for 3 months and my cholesterol has dropped from 5.2 to 4.6 some people say 5 or less is the figure to aim for but my nurse is saying 4 or less i'm thinking the NHS dont want patients with heart problems in the future.
