i would agree with that......but with all the European nonsense

Don't know about legislation but have you considered gel insoles (you can buy quite cheaply from Boots)

Gel seats are supposed to cure bum ache so why not gel insoles for your feet.

standing up is fine if moving about, but my feet are pretty much glued in the same place which makes it uncofatable, if i was moving around on the shop floor it wouldnt be a problem,

managers wont let checkout operators do splits with the shop floor, also they deny you the use of a chair under the reason it looks more profesional standing up. i guessed it wasnt a nationwide company policy as other people have said people sit down at other b&q's,

so i guess ill be standing up there till i leave then by the sound of it, (btw im not bothered about standing most of the time but it would be nice to have the option to sit down for the occasional few mins)

I've got some gel inserts for my shoes, I'm on my feet all day. The company supplied footwear is crap, but I'm not allowed to wear my own shoes for H&S reasons.
There are exercises you can do to alleviate the discomfort, or you could wear support socks/tights.

My job involves being on my feet a fair bit.

It's the standing on the spot that does your legs in, even in a butchers shop or factory floor you will move about even if it's just a few steps. Standing on the spot is a killer.

I used to get aches and very bad swelling and told my boss about it. He supplied me with a tall chair/stool thing which means I can be at my workstation but manage to get the weight of my feet now and again but am still in a position to spring into action and push buttons when needed.

I can grab a sit normally for less than a minute at certain times of day but if you can do that several times per hour and move you feet about to pump the blood out of the Calf it really helps. I have gel inserts as well.

I suppose in my case the fact I have had multiple surgeries on my pelvis and knee made my employer a bit more aware but if you have any health/physical problems or pains it's your employers legal obligation to make reasonable adjustments.

How about being suspended from the ceiling so your feet are an inch of the floor

Well yes, but then until the more recent end of that hundred years regularily cut off their fingers in sausage machines or get dragged into large machines and turned into macrame.

My job before the job before had me standing basically all day- I could've had a seat but I was up and down out of it constantly so I threw it away. It was quite bad for a few weeks then I just got used to it... Good shoes helps, I got a pair of DMs as they're so much more practical than most office shoes, and still fairly neat.
