Be careful with the bike cover in windy weather, I know several guys who store their bikes outside and wont use them in stormy weather because they act like a big sail.

I was thinking this last night actualy; should i pin the cover down with some bricks, or should i take it off to prevent something nasty from happening?

Theres a guy over the way with a fireblade also covered up, his bike seems ok with it covered in all winds, and i think i'll be ok for the moment; where I am is quite sheltered, only gusts really get round every now and then. I wish i had a shed or garage to tuck up my bike into

do you have a car, or know anyone who does? i don't have a garage but i have a car, and i have a parking space (as opposed to parking on the road). During summer, i park my car in its spot but leave a little gap at the back between the wall/hedge/fence and the car. it means if my bike is blown about at all, it will move a very short distance before hitting the car or wall (and hopefully, gently! not had to test yet).

alternatively i like the laying it down bit - if you could get a bunch of sandbags (or something) it might be quite an easy thing to do, yet still stop it from going over...

yeah, i had a 4 hour drive over the pennines on monday- not fun! but you can still plod along at 80 - just need to practice going past lorries

the spray that kicks up at the front of them is bonkers!

My SV got blown over on new years day. Was NOT happy!

I keep it covered for security. The heart cannot want what the eye cannot see! But I am worried about the sail effect of the cover!

Since it got blown off.... its stand,

I've got a couple of sandbags and stuffed them over the sidestand. Each bag must weigh 15 to 20 kilos. My hope is that they will prevent the stand from lifting from the floor and so prevent the bike falling on its right side.

Here's hoping...

Na, i dont have a car. I was thinking the same thing though. The sandbags idea is quite good, although i'll have to get hold of some sandbags. My parking space has a bit of a slope to it, so i've parked the bike so it leans with the slope (i.e. more lent over than normal). Its lasted the night, not sure about today

Ran out at 3am and pulled the cover off it, it was looking like an accident waiting to happen! I dont mind a wet bike - its easier to dry and polish than to spend money on replacing broken bits...

Have we all been lucky so far?

I had to go out to my bike at 3.00 this morning. The bike cover had blown off the front (I use a strap around the seat so that held on the back) but to add insult, in my wisdom I put a huge plastic sheet under the cover and that had filled with air, it looked like a hot air balloon. Went running out in my dressing gown and cooled my tu-tu nicely ! hope the neighbours didn't see

Scary times

I think my bike will stay uncovered for a while, i dont know how much wind would push the bike over with the cover on, but i kno it would be less than with the cover off.

Poor thing is getting wet, and developing some rust on the discs now

I just keep going out and wiping it down.

Bet that was a sight for the neighbours tomcat

You'd be suprised how many people are up at night
