If you can get it this stuff is great for wheels and bits that generally get covered in grease. My ol' man acquires it from work and all you need is a little on some kitchen roll, wipe it on and off the **** comes - even seems to get off spots of tar too.
It's called Mykal Fastdry Precision Cleaner and it's got a defense standard
Quote:
Mykal Industries, the United Kingdom, is offering De.Solv.It DSI 1000FD fast-dry precision cleaner, which has been awarded a DefStan number as approved for use within the armed forces in the country. Following search and trials with a variety of products, DSI 1000FD was awarded the MoD Defence Standard 08-121 (NES 844) for ‘Acoustic cladding treatment employing epoxide adhesive systems’ – essentially cleaning and preparation of surfaces prior to bonding. The DSI 1000FD fast-dry precision cleaner was chosen due to its excellent degreasing performance, fast drying capabilities and good safety profile.

On the chain though I use parafin as i don't know what it'll do to the O-rings

A man after my own heart, trouble is with all the paint chips on the wheels the next time I clean it I really want to re-spray them

When you're commuting in winter it's a futile task

Castrol Bike Polish. Wash off worse of dirt if really bad but otherwise apply without pre cleaning and polish off. Plastic and painted metal. Brings up wheels, mirrors, screen and visor better than owt I've tried before.

Gotta agree here, you need sunglasses to look at that black Trumpet

I've also used it on my bike, good stuff.

To get the gunk off the back wheel, MR SHEEN! It works a treat, honest.

I find a rag dampened with white spirit works as well as any fancy alloy wheel cleaner. Use an old, stiff 1/2 inch paintbrush to work it into the corners of the rim/spokes. Also works for other oily deposits. As for the rest of the bike I just use car shampoo, then use a spray on wax on the tank and plastics.
