Jo my sweet,no it was a figure of speech only! Touching wood my bike has been superb and I really do not know what I will go for after her. The 1098 is calling me though although I maybe should be considering more of an Old Farty machine like Marko!

I still have them, but the bike is going into the dealers for its Throttle position sensor Recall mod

so i put the bike back to stock till it's done

also touring germany later in the year and i am told they are really strict on noise levels ie DB meters at the roadside

Peter you like your wooden spoon don't you :P

here are 2 quote's about the TDM read into it what you will ( I think it sums it up pretty well)

"But you need to get off the motorways and dual carriageways and onto the A and B roads to start having some real fun with the TDM900. It revels in being thrown about the twisties and those wide bars are just the tools for the job. The high ground clearance means the low pegs are in no danger of touching down, and you can get the tyres right to the edge without any danger of grinding off those nice shiny stainless silencers. " (oops that's a lie )

"I'll be the first to admit that I approached the TDM with a lot of pre-conceptions and most of them were negative or just plain wrong. So I was pleasantly surprised by how good the overall package is. This is a bike that can do just about everything and will surprise the pants off a lot of the sportsbike-obsessed riders in the UK. And it will do it without too much risk to your licence. However, while this country is still dominated by the need to ride bikes that are more relevant to race tracks than roads, the TDM900 is never going to be a big seller over here for Yamaha. The rest of Europe has a much more practical outlook in their choice of two-wheeled transport and the TDM is a good steady seller over there. Their gain is our loss."

P.S. Red = yours :P ... Indigo = the truth. "ohh" and i get in excess of 220 miles to a tank of petrol, and i am fresh as a daisy with no aches after 3 or 4 hundred miles how about you

FUBAR....If ever I saw a post writeen by a poor soul in denial! Good to see yer around fella.

Marko.....How much to the gallon do I get? Dunno, I just pop that nozzle in there and fill her up when required.

Designed from the race track indeed as on my bike I would of course not be able to join you for the weekly shop.

Comfort? Hmm well even on a very long ride down from Valencia when I first bought the bike, I have never suffered from the slightest ache and pain after time in the saddle. Ok the riding position does not allow me to make a "rolly" as I travel along like your TDM...but it aint bad. *

I tell a lie I almost wrecked my ligaments in my left wrist due to being caught in the traffic getting away from Jerez last year. Hydraulic clutch being operated like a million times in half an hour will do for anyone!

** One should remember that certain comments passed are meant to do no more than wind certain peeps up! I actually think the TDM is a damn fine and very much under rated machine.**

"The TDM is designed for those riders who have left their best years behind them. But you need to get off the motorways and dual carriageways and onto the A and B roads where the wind blast allows you to eat your sandwiches whilst riding much easier. To start having some real fun of course a Ducati 749 would have been the wiser choice, however sitting upright to ease the lumbago has much appeal to many mature riders.with the TDM900. It revels in being thrown about the twisties and those wide bars are just the tools for the job. The high ground clearance means the low pegs are in no danger of touching down, this does though oft create problems for the seasoned rider who can have difficulty in managing to throw their leg over the seat.

However, while this country is still dominated by gorgeous bikes that are more sexy than this machine , the TDM900 is never going to be a big seller over here for Yamaha. The rest of Europe has a many more elderly riders and the TDM is a good steady seller over there. Their gain is our loss."
