You have to also bear in mind the demands on an SV650 shock are very different to those required on a WSB/MotoGP one

The adjustment available is more than enough to get a SV650 tracking the road sweetly

To be fair unless you have telemetry, having any more adjustment might just make things over complicated ...

Not different at all. All bikes experience weight transfer and have to deal with bumps. There is not a car or bike in existence that doesn't benefit from not being so effected by bumps in the road, as a result of better adjustability of the high speed damping.

The current rear shock you have doesn't seem to hinder you at all when it comes to cleaning the floor with your fellow track day riders...

You just need to learn what to feel for - telemetry can help, but not as often as it should.

Remember compared to WSB/MotoGP the rest of the chassis is pretty ropey on the SV too

The benefit with low powered bikes is that you don't have to stiffen everything up so much just to stop the front wheel from being constantly airborne...

Can't wait to hear how it goes for you on the track!

It has to be an improvement, the ZX shock was good enough for trackdays ...

To be fair its only if you are trying to get them last few seconds, or even tenths that a race shock begins to matter ... and I was thinking of doing a round or two of minitwins so kinda put financial logic to one side for a bit and let competitiveness in!! I am now £400 lighter!! But to be fair in overall cost to do an event that isn't much ... it'll cost me £500-£750 to compete on it at one round ... so one could say at that price, you might as well give it a half descent shot or not bother going at all!!
