He was great in The Quick and the Dead.

Well, he got shot to death, which was satisfying.

I remember finding a movie prop warehouse that was selling, amongst other things, the AK47 (complete with rubber stock and fake blood smear) that smashed into his face in that move whose title temporarily escapes me...

... 'Lord of the Flies'esque, on a deserted island. I remember they got into trouble for ripping up the beach and replanting a load of palm trees or something else that hippies were whinging about...

... hang on...

... that was it. The Beach. I knew I'd get there in the end.

Overall I think Leo played the part really well. The irony though is that when we got home, a documentary had just started on the history channel about the blood diamonds of sierra leone.
I remember watching Jonathan Ross's review of the film & he said a South African friend of his just fell about laughing when he heard L'DiC's accent I guess it depends which bit of Africa he's actually supposed to be from - IIRC in the film he says he's from Zimbabwe, not SA.

Razor - spot on about those 2 films, both great. I thinks he's made some decent stuff recently too - he was excellent in The Departed. If you haven't seen it then you should do so NOW!

Maybe DiCaprio's research on Irish accents was based on Tom Cruises' character.

Aye, but the opening scenes of 'Gangs' are superb imo. Shame about the rest.

Basically every scene with Bill The Butcher is superb.
Seriously. He is one of the best psychopaths in cinema. Completely terrifying furious raging performance. Apparently when DDL went into his Bill the Butcher mode, people on set were scared of him.

Just a pity the film was a bit crap. It could have been good. It could have been an animal film... but, there was a load of kissy kissy sentimental crap thrown in. Blech.
