Its a B-R-E-A-K-E-R B-A-R....a long metal pole that you can put sockets on. Find one before I do and I wont smack you round the head with it....etc... Dan |

Looks like Halfords website doesn't list everything they do anyway. No individual sockets etc.
If you ring them up again, it should be in the cabinet with all the individual sockets and/or torque wrenches. Of course this will entail the spotty oik finding the person with the only copy of the key that opens the cabinet..... good luck ![]() |

Pretty sure it was just :
Halfords Professional 24" 1/2" drive breaker bar. As rigor says, it's in the glass cabinet with all the individual sockets etc. They do a shorter one as well I think. |

Another vote for the Halfords professional breaker bar, one of the best £18 I have spent. Made changing wheels on my elise childs play.

Just a question, why go to 1/2 sockets for a bike. 3/8 are generally good enough and a lot slimmer to fit into those compact spaces.
I've got 1/4 and 3/8 teng socket sets and you get a adaptor socket to allow fitment of a 1/2 wrench in the 3/8 set. Just a thought. |

Well I wondered in my OP about 3/8 or 1/2 inch drive. Consensus seems to be 1/2 inch because of the extra torque you can exert with the breaker bar. My socket set is 1/4 and 3/8 in drive, but I think getting heavy duty sockets for use with the breaker bar is a good idea.
I'll buy only the 1/2 drive sockets I need, not a complete set. And the breaker bar will be used on lots of other things besides the bike, so 1/2 inch drive does not seem excessive. |
