Logistics wise, second bank holiday weekend in May would be better. 26th & 27th (Sat & Sun) if we're going with bank holiday's. Anyone any objection to these dates?

Why?

First bank holiday is Llandudno's Victorian Extravoganza. Try booking somewhere to stay when that is on!!! Wont happen.

Lissa, sounds like a good plan to meet at Ponderosa & get the Horse Shoe Pass in on the way over. I work in Denbigh so might be tempted to kip at a workmates place & join up down there (that way I get to ride Horse Shoe twice ) As an alternative to the A548, the A543 is good too, then drops you on to the A5 about 10mins from Betws-y-coed.

It seems so far that a fair few aren't up for the walk, but that aint a problem, anyone that is can go

What's all your thoughts on places to stay (camping, B&B or bunk house)? I'll call off some places dotted around Llanberis - Betws-y-coed to get a rough idea of prices & availability for you all.

EDIT: This weekend I'm heading over to Buckley, then Northwich, then over somewhere by the M6. On the way back, I'll come via HorseShoe Pass & Bala (A4212 - Llyn Celyn), then probably A470, A4085 Bedgellert & up to Pen-y-pass. So if anyone wants info about that route/places to stay I'll be in a better position to advise.

From Ruthin try the B5105 to Cerrigydrudion, B4501 past Llyn Brenig to join A543 and turn right towards Denbigh for Bylchau? A bit of a dog leg, but includes three extra twisty roads.

A544 Bylchau to LLanfair TH and A548 to Llanrwst, top route (try it Baph - I'll come!) But how about the B5106 to Betws-y-Coed?

Hell, whatever route we choose, count me in! The roads round here are ace!

Where the B4501 hits the A543 (not 453?) isn't it a right at Llyn Bran, not a left?

Left at Bylchau towards Llansannan & up to Llanfair TH & then back into Llanrwst. Hmm, extended route to my dad's place

I've only done the B5106 north from Llanrwst, but I can check it out southbound

I think I shall be having an explore this weekend

Left / Right, what's the difference??

I'll try that route tomorrow (cos I got the week off - yay!!) Will take the long way to Llangollen then clock the route from there to Llanberis.

Saw your bike in the car park today Baph, but was running errands in the cage so cannot crow. Nice day tomorrow (hmm - or later today!), so will be thinking of you all in work (NOOT!!)

That weekend should be good for me too. Will prob try and get through to Abergvenny on the Friday night and then free to head North and play Sat/Sun - home Monday.

My compliments on your spellings so far

If you are going to Abergavenny for a visit on Friday GMonsta, I may make a quick visit there... only 30 minutes away from where I live...

will see about staying over a night or two.. as a 3.5 hour journey each way is sounding a bit daunting to do in a day now!

And while we are at it..... I'll drag up an idea of mine from the past......

I kinda have access (well, know the person with the keys) to a small old school in south/mid wales not far from Llanbedr (Lampeter) it houses between 10 - 15 people, and has full cooking stuffs... and is not far off in middle of no where Wales... the locals are a few Farmers, and plenty of sheep.... its a couple of miles off ther A40 in a place called Cwrt Y Cadno

there will be some rules in place if I can wangle this, as its only supposed to be let out to Welsh speakers (its owned by my old Welsh school) So I may pretend to teach you what roadsigns are in Welsh...

so could do something simular for south wales at somepoint as well.. not sure of dates at the moment....

anyone interested ?

VB, if you're thinking of coming up north, I'd be rude not to go down south if you offered an invite

I'm up for it, subject to dates
