Just checked the battery terminals again. Noticed that the -ve was quite loose so tightened it. Lights seem a little brighter but whenever I use anything other than the ignition lights everything just goes off and the relay thing just clicks. Starting to sound like I have managed to donald duck the battery well and truly up.
Peace.... |

Do you have a multi meter Paul ?
Give it a charge and see what it holds, as said could also be your solanoid relay (right hand side panel with a green plastic cover) housing the main 30amp fuse (and a spare). Cheers Mark.

[quote=BILLY;1148028]Sounds like your battery is goosed!!
I would second that. I had similar experiance over a year ago. stopped for fuel and when i returned to start up again the alam beeped 4 times to tell me i had low power. Then the same problem as described the bike would not fire at all. After checking fuses and for loose conections i got her started by bumping her. Charged the battery on an optimate when i got to my destination, which sorted it. after a few months it done it again and then deteriorated , so had to finaly replace the batery. not had a problem since, but have used the optimate religiously since. IMO checking the battery on a optimate or similar is the very first fix to try when starting problems occur. stops you jumping to conclusins about expensive rectifier faults. |

If the -ve terminal was loose the battery may not have been charging, it may be goosed, but just try charging it up, putting it back in with tight connections and see how it goes.

I agree, give the battery a good coat of charging and see then if it i'll fire and run.
Then check Das Regulator too. Its a "feature" of these bikes that they die, you ride the bike with the lights on until there is not enough electricity to run the spark plugs. At least, thats what mine ddi half way across a roundabout a while back. ![]() ![]() Do a search, tou will find loads of stuff on it Good Luck!!! |

What year is that, 2002? I've got a 2002 reg/rec somewhere if you need it... But I reckon you should try and charge the battery first, it might still be fine.

Thanks for all your kind replys. Haven't even got a charger (muppet that I am) going to invest in one. All it seems to do is light the fuel/neutral/oil lights now and nothing else.
Peace.... |

Happened to me just after christmas. Snap of real cold weather and the battery gave up. I charged it but it wouldn't hold a decent charge. Got a new batter and hasn't failed since. With everything on it should charge OK if the battery is healthy.
