If the slightest care is taken in assembling the rivet link it won't be tight, think on this when you consider who fits your chain.
Some chains - Regina for instance - come with shims to fit into the link as you rivet it so it will be exactly the same width as all the other links and the 'O' or 'X' rings will seal correctly, the same can be achived with a caliper and a little care when assembling.

Certainly it's worth doing it this way if you intend to keep the bike a while. As Northwind says, the pivot bearings will almost certainly be in need of some fresh grease.

You'll need a special socket to undo the swingarm locknut too.

Think someone is running a thread about supporting the back end without a paddock stand

Having said that, the swingarm pivots never get serviced, it just never ever ever ever happens, and it should. So that's sort of in favour of endlesses.
Good comment! Eileen's done just over 10k now. Maybe I will service the SA pivot .

OK I checked that thread and looked thru all my old rusty sockets - and I do have a 27mm one. What do I do to it to make it an OK tool?

Grind or file it until it looks like the one in my pic on the other thread or use the nut on locknut on Eileen to make a pattern I guess.

I cheated and bought one.
