i don' t take all my weight off my wrists, but the majority of it. If sitting on the motorway i just sit back a bit. Svs a pretty comfortable bike i think - except for the cramped legroom

Taipan, I found it took a a few weeks to get used to the SV (my first bike), but my body soon adapted, I can now do 500 + miles a day pretty easily, and am just over 6 foot tall, persevere and your body should adapt pretty soon! As you get more used to the bike you'll hopefully relax a bit more more and that may help too. Give it another couple of weeks befor spending cash or swapping bikes.

I never found my SV that uncomfortable. I now ride a Daytona 650, which if anything has a more acute rising position. You shouldn't be putting weight down on the bars - your wrists should be as near parallel as you can get them so you can push the bars as appropriate. To get them at 90 degrees does require some contortion. As stated above, trick is to develop the knee grip. You need to flop on the bike, grip tank with knees, shoulders relaxed, use stomach muscles to support body. You should be able to flap your elbows like chicken wings - if you can't, you're too tense. Oh yeah, and have your toes or the balls of your feet on the pegs, not flat footed. You soon get used to it.

As soon as I sat on an S in the showroom I decided to get a naked. I'm sure the bars increase the naked's chuckaboutability no end over the S too.

I fitted helibars - raised and widened the bars a bit - turning circle is slightly less but a big improvement to comfort. My main problem was lower back pain from an old war wound (OK a crash!) so it gives me a slightly more upright riding position. Guess it also helps with less weight on my wrists but I think being relaxed is the key to this bit?

![]() Set of Hawk Gt clip ons on US ebay right now. Dunno if he'll ship here though? I'm waiting on some replys from the hawk Gt mailing list to see if anyone has any lying around? If there's more than one set I'll shout on here in case anyone wants them? If I dont get any joy then I'll maybe PM you about the Helibars? I'm 6'3 and I just can't help supporting my weight on my wrists when riding in town. I think a lot of the problem is because i'm commuting into London and the stop-start traffic has you braking a lot? |
