Anyone in the Territorial Army?

Sorry andyb i have got your PM but a bit hectic at the moment i'll try and reply at lunchtime when i have time to give you all the info.

But for any one else interested I love it, you get to do all sorts of stuff, they feed me well and i get paid enough to make it more than worth my while.

We're tankies, We provide replacement gunners and loaders for the Challenger II crews. The KRH are our big brothers.

I'm moving from Blandford soon to Salisbury (hopefully!!!) so will probably ending up joining the Wessex Yeomanry (same as e.d.) or a specialist unit. I've got all the usual booklets from the TA but would like a REAL insight into what happens as I know it's not all the same as the glossy booklets .

I know its completely different but I used to be in the Air Cadets when I was younger and all we did was drill all the time which bored the hell out of me.

Pop down to your centre & tell them that you want to go on one of the, I think it's called, "Look at Life" weekends. They've take you out on manoevres, you'll get a feel for how it's like.

As in the Kings Royal Hussars?

I thought that as a calvalry regiment they had special dispensation not to have females in their ranks due to the dissmounted infantry role they take on whilst on tour?

Yep as in he Kings Royal Hussars.

Women can't fill the tank crew roles in the regiment but we can do pretty much anything else.

Yep plenty of trips to Bovy, thats where A squadron are based and it's where alot of our recruit traing takes place. Not been there for a while myself tho.

only been there to use the pool as a trainee years ago when i was at blandford the first time

We rarely actually get the real thing to play with, it's usually all simulator work. I missed the last live firing exercise with them back in March, i was gutted to say the least.

I bet you were, i would love to have a go on a chally 2

if u don't mind me asking......what happens if they sent u abroad to one of those lovely places where you are not welcome at all by the locals???!!!
