The problem with dropouts only with ethernet connected PCs sounds more like a router hardware failure though. |

i have to say that connected from the master socket it appears that I can connect to the maximum speed from my provider and its stable as well (for the time being)
so I guess my extension socket was fooked :S I'll now wire it with Cat5e cable as well so that should be a bit better |

![]() I've worked with a lot of setups that reported random dropouts in connection. Even some that had no connection at all on one socket, and a connection on another socket. Always plug your equipment into the master socket if you have any problems, if you're still having problems when wired into the master, investigate it. |

If the line is severed for example, they have to come out & fix it. The only time you call your ISP, is when your broadband doesn't work. Then they call BT (if needed) & BT come out to do the necessary work. |

Baph you're right but I didn't have that problem 2 weeks ago when I got disconnected from my previous ISP hence why I didn't look into that straight away.

Oh yea, when you're routing that CAT5e, be careful of mains power as well. Perpendicular not parallel, otherwise you'll get issues again.
