Oooh, tough one. I would have looked more seriously at an R6 if it wasn't for the Suzuki insurance deal. I think the R6 looks way more aggressive, the only thing I have a problem with is the standard can (the one on the gixer looks better as standard to me).
IIRC they both rev to the same amount (R6 was supposed to be 18k but then Yamaha admitted to a reading error with their counters, no? So it was actually 16k) so no difference there. A mate of mine sat on an R6 though, and the tank stuck out too far and obstructed his arms, compared to a GSX-R600. Are you actually going to buy one or are you just asking questions? ![]() |

![]() Its sitting in the back of the garage totally unloved for the past year or two!! ![]() If you really are that curious, here's a random (well quite a nice*) pic of it when it was loved (at least a bit) though ![]() http://www.braking-zone.com/images/b...s/DSC_5443.jpg And here's a video of it getting abused like god intended on a cold February afternoon!! ![]() ![]() *as it hasn't got much duck-tape on it - that's quite rare!! ![]() ![]() Quote:

I like the new CBR600RR... R6, IMO, looks daft, hate that front end, and the GSXR looks old. I've not ridden any of the most recent models, but I did read a magazine once which qualifies me to say "Too revvy, too focused for the road, sit in not on, stretch to the bars, too much adjustment, Honda/Suzuki build quality is great/****, racetrack derived technology, euro 3, no space for luggage, superb/poor brakes, Triumph reliability concerns, get a 750."

I'd go for the R6, but then again I'm biased because I have one! Looks way cooler than the gsxr's. Easy to get bits for on ebay as there are so many raced - bought a second hand tank for 40 quid - needs a large dent coaxing out of it, but not too bad!

I also found the seat really low on the GSXR. I know you can play around with the ride height, but I felt oversized (about 6ft) on the GSXR. |

Point is - even the 600 is OTT (in the real world), so from that point on any 'reasoning' to do with power and/or cost is just otiose ... so you go for the biggest and the best or the one thats a bit more of a handfull if that's what floats ya boat!!

its not just the ponies which you have to take into consideration. take the r6 for example. has great horsepower, but lacks torque so exiting corners isnt as good. i remember seeing in performance bikes their lap times on their test track, a 99 sv650 beat the 2006/7 r6 round their track, and their explaination??? lacks torque to exit the corners, other than that greeat bike.
hence why i probably would go for the gixxer 750. get a decent amount of bhp, and also the torque needed. but thats just me. i would rather have a bike which could corner well and go like stink, than a bike which goes like stink, but then get outpowered by a 8 year old sv650!! |

![]() People seem to think that the R6 is sluggish (probably down to the journos) which is the same opinion that get regurgitated everytime, yet few people have actually ridden one. |

Out of the original 2 choices I'd go for the Yam.
