And be careful using fairy liquid to clean your back wheel - lots of salt in washing up liquid, and Suzuki aren't known for their corrosion resistance.

I do mine about every 400 miles with Wurth dry lube unless it looks like it needs it before then.

A little known trick to clean wheels of oil fling is the use of wax polish, works well and also applies a nice waxy shine to the wheel in one foul swoop.

Snotoiler for me, but bike used daily. If the bike isn't used daily, the snotoil can leave your chain almost too clean so it rusts.

As much as it really pains me to admit it, the Crusty one is right IMHO.

Washing up liquid like most washing stuff contains salt to soften the water but its in solution. Just rinse it down afterwards and you'll be OK.

I try to lube mine before or after each big ride, but then I only do big rides, so every time I use the bike.

Never had much luck with Scottoilers. Always had delivery amount problems with them. Scotoiler themselves have always been good and sent me free replacement parts, but still had problems. Only 1 out of the 4 i've had worked properly for any length of time?

Last oiler I bought was a Loobman which cost about £20 and the sum total of its parts must be 2p! But I got it set up perfect on a KTM I had and as crap and as cheap as it looked/was/is the damn thing worked each time everytime!

When i have had bikes with centre stands i used to keep an old fashioned oil pump can in the bushes next to where I parked my bike. Every other day or each day if it was raining i used to spin the wheel and apply the oil. Its best done when the chain is hot and it suited me to do it then.

With the Sv having no centre stand, I think I might try another loobman?

Wurth Dry Chain lube is good stuff, and 'RiDE' recomended, plus has minimal fling.
Since RiDE magazine did a test of about 20 aerosol lubes I've used nothing else than Wurth Dry Chain Lube . Its reasonably priced at £7.50 for a large can that lasts a long time !
It came first in all the tests and the 'fling' is absolutely zero ! Only problem is, is that its so fine / clear you can't tell if you've put enough / too much on !

Personally, I oil my chain pretty much everyday.

I have a loobman (cheap man's Scottoiler), which has used engine oil in it that I drip on to the chain (50miles is gets about 3cc of oil). Problem there is fling.

Then every couple of days it gets a squirt of Wurth Dry Lube.

Then every week it gets washed & scrubbed, Wurth'd and then Castrol LM all over it. This stuff is designed for gearboxes, so it can't be all that bad The fling is minimal if you allow it to settle on nicely (half hour or so).
