"Then I heard this train and I noticed there was train tracks. It was only then that I did realise I was on a train crossing."

Some people are just stupid. Surely common sense here would have been to open both gates and then drive across, not stop on the tracks.

Stupid girl.
Exactly my point.

She was out of the car when opening the gate, and reading the sign. "If the green light is on, open the gate." She also stated there were no lights on.

The fault does not lie with the SatNav unit.

Mind you, that crossing could do with upgrading a little. What if someone leaves the gate open one day?

Why, does the new TomTom's (I have a TomTom5) say things like:

"At the gate in 200 yards, get out of your car, check the green light is on, then open boths gates so you can drive through safely before closing both gates again & continuing your journey."

I'm waiting for a cager to hit me off and claim they didn't see me because I didn't appear on their Tomtom.

NB: As an aside, I use a satnav all the time (car and bike) because of how much I travel to new places for work. I'd actually say it makes me considerably safer when riding in new places (particularly bits of London I'm unfamiliar with). The only time I've had a bad experience with it was in America (where, to be fair, all Sat navs seem to come a cropper - must be out of date maps or something). It directed me along a road which seemed reasonable enough (wide tarmaced) and gradually deteriorated over a period of miles, to a dirt track. After 2 miles of riding a Goldwing offroad, I decided to cut my losses and turn back. I didn't press on over ever-more rocky terrain until I crashed/got stuck in the mud and then blaming it on the Tomtom.

I was looking at my Tom Tom when I was on the train once. It was very funny as it tried to direct me to the nearest road. Sometimes it actually told me I was driving down the adjacent road!
