Matt
I'm looking at the official suzuki topbox for my SV at the moment as it happens...

Both the girlfriend and myself have always liked Goldwings. We recently hired one while we were in America and she absolutely loved it (and finally "got" biking). Personally, I was surprised how well it handled incredibly twisty roads (tail of the dragon) although, lets just say it had slight "ground clearance issues".

She's the one who suggested getting it and will be paying for half of it. I'm trying to talk her into taking 2 up test rides on the comparable bikes (FJR 1300, Pan "Cop Killer" 1300, Electra Glide, BMW K 1200 LT and the new Victory Vision) as her comfort/luggage space for a dozen pairs of shoes is an important factor.

I agree that they look very nice especially with those Ohlins shocks on the back of them.

Can’t put my finger on it but there is something about them I think is very nice. I would have to test ride one first before deciding.

I have also considered looking at a CB1300, same lazy laid back raw power; however they don’t look as good, but do come with a fairing!!

For the same price I could get a SS600 pre reg etc, however I want to go up in the CC value and want something that will not regret buying 5 years after I bought it and will make me smile every time I ride it. Basically I want a big capacity, comfy good handling, fun in the twisties bike next. After what Beenz said I think the Yamaha would tick all the boxes apart from the good handling. Not asking much am i?? LOL

So for my next bike I am undecided on buying a new SS600 or something like the XJR1300/CB1300S/Bandit 1200S

I guess Northwind qualified my handling comment, the do handle just not in the same way as the SV and thats really down to the extra weight and size. Although I've not ridden one they just have to handle better than the XS11, I doubt if they would be allowed to make them any more on safety grounds, I recall one magazine describing them as "A beefcake bolide with tea trolley handling" and they were right, but forgot to mention the tea trolly had a skewed wheel

Have fun on the test ride neio79.
