That's very unlucky.

However, you'll heal soon and his insurance will pay for a new bike (or bits). So you're not so unlucky after all.

I hope the police are going to do the guy for having an unroadworthy vehicle.
He was cautioned but the Police told me they issued him a 21 day notice to get it fixed. It was a council pool car he was driving so I'm not sure what happens there/next. Presumably the council are at fault for unroadworthy car.

At least you are ok.
Cheers...I knew I was was riding well and knew I could stop. No doubt they will try something as they always do. Yes at least I'm ok!

In my opinion the whole road over dukes pass need to be redone and not just patches here and there.
Yes mate...the ambulance had me checked out at the scene. Yes again...it's the new cafe. It was about 100 yards further on. The road as you can see from the photo is pretty bad. The photo doesn't do it justice though.

It was my new bike. I was too shaken to think about photos at the time but my mob screen was goosed anyway. My bike's at Stirling at the recovery depot. I'm gettimng everything sorted today. The whole front and left side is smahed - on account of the mushroom giving way

I do and yes it could have been a lot worse. The paramedic is a biker and he said from what had happened I did very well under the circumstances.

My phone was smashed up but my wife (bless her) came and took me back to take some photos on her mobile - see below. They're not the best but you can just see where the road broke up (arrow). The black mark you see nearer the entrance to the layby isn't a tyre skid - its the mark the black crash bung left on the road.

I wanted to get back on the bike right away but it wasn't rideable but I was still dizzy for a while afterwards so not a good idea.

I'm still pretty sore today. I'm desperate to get back out asap so it doesn't affect my confidence.

Really sorry to hear you're hurt, but sounds promising on it being all his fault and the police have his details. keep us up to date on the claim. I would say it was his fault (not the council) if he knew there was a problem with the car. Also, was there any reaason for his stopping so abruptly? Turning right? No indicators either

stuarty boy, glad you are "reasonably" ok after that one
must've scared the ****e out of you
sounds horrible mate

Just a personal opinion mate but if that were me in your shoes and it is defo a council pool car, I would go for the jugular here, even try and get the national papers involved, especially if its he works for the same council that senselessly throw down the chips instead of doing repairs properly.

Also, get lawyers etc to insist on seeing daily maintenance charts etc for the offending vehicle as well as the drivers logs etc.

what I am trying to say mate is take these thoughtless *******s to the cleaners.

Glad to hear you're relatively OK, could've been very nasty that. Bikes fix, sometimes they fix better than they were Just as well it was you and not some speedfreak going for a heroic lap time through the pass or it'd maybe be a much worse story on the local news.

The road surface is going downhill there, but tbh that wasn't really the cause, it was this eejit and his unsafe car... You can't expect perfect roads, particularily on miles-long diversions that go nowhere, but that by itself is fine since you can plan/watch for it- in fact, I know you were, since otherwise you'd have binned it every other time you rode the pass on some random corner gravel/pothole/flaky surface It's a b-road after all, as much as I'd like it to be racetrack-surfaced I don't think that's reasonable to expect.

If you want a hand with the bike at all, you know where I am... I know nothing about Hondas but it's all just meccano at the end of the day. This one sounds like an open and shut insurance job though.

Northwind,Dukes pass is not a B road it is the A821 and as such should be maintained a a A road.

Stuarty...paramedic is john I think and has a Bandit 1200.

Cheers stu, scoobs, northy.

I'm fully comp so hopefully that will take care of the repairs. If it comes back better then great

However...I just spent the best part of last week getting it all shiny and my suspension sorted out so it was just spot on. Filled up with oil, brake fluid and all the general maintenance stuff done. It was just a pleasure to ride. Was booked in for a service on Fri too

My leathers, lid gloves etc weren't covered though but his insurance should be liable and get that sorted out. Don't want to lose my NCB as well

That's the very guy. Real gentleman. We were chatting about VFR's in his disco. He's looking at buying one he saw for £1k on an S plate but I think I said it was a bit on the cheap side.

It is an A road isn't it. It never registered with me. Gonna shine a torch in my ears to see if my brain fell out at the roadside.
