Yes, there is no need to be 100% all the time ... I like sitting about scratching my scrote as much as the next man ...

But I can't see ANY excitement in his life at all ... I'd say my life is mostly dull/mundane (like sat at work (well trying to avoid doing my work ) now, with short spells of 'extreme' ... I have the 'extreme' to try and counteract the normality/boredom ... if I never had this outlet, what the point of living if you never feel alive?!?!!?

I bet he wonders why you spend so much money on motorbikes, and why you go racing, just imagine how many airfix models that'd buy!

I used to be well into my modelmaking, not airfix kits but wargames models... I was never that into the gaming tbh, but I liked the scratchbuilding and conversion of it. Wasn't much for the painting either. But I seem to have switched to full scale Somewhere in my future is one kick-ass train set, I think...

I once ran a Phantom F4 pilot from the the sqdn to the officers mess at Wildenrath in germany in the 80,s
' if you dont mind me asking sir' I enquired ' you spend yours days at low level in a fast jet at 600+ mph, what do you do for kicks ? '
'Well' he replied ' I quite like squash !' horses for courses I suppose.

Like I said, as a kid I was an Airfix-er .... also as young man and running into adult I was into radio controlled aeroplanes at one time, I enjoyed the build, but mostly the flying ... it doesn't take much banter for me to want to get me plane out again!!

There is no problem with this guy having peaceful hobbies, but there is NO excitement in his life either ... everything is sensible and reserved ... and I mean everything ... sometimes I just want to slap some life into him

And yes, he can't understand my bikes/racing, but then I don't know anyone that does!!

I am not surprised, if you are getting you 'quota' at work then there is no need to have it as hobby too ...

I actually applied to be a fighter pilot ... but when I went to the recruitment office they said that the UK only needs 1 pilot at that time ... they need navigators though .... feck that!! They said come back next year ... but by that time I had moved on ...

Just think if I had gone back a year later, I could be flying fast jets now!! I'd have been f-good too

See, what you don't know is he's constantly high on paint and glue fumes, and having a brilliant time just watching the flashing lights. If anything interesting were to happen he'd probably go mad.

the thing is, he's probably a lot closer to the norm than you - you big freak

there's probably someone who basejumps blindfolded with a tiger strapped to his back going "pah, he only races motorcycles, & not even fast ones at that"

I actually want to have a go at base jumping!!

I went to my Aunties funeral a copula weeks ago ... in her eulogy they read a poem she wrote when she went to the grand canyon (she was and English teacher and a bit poetic, so not that surprising she wrote a poem when she saw it ) ...

At the wake after the funeral, I saw a picture on the wall of the grand canyon ... I said to my rellies "You see I don't look at that and think poetically like auntie did ... I look at it and wonder if it is high enough to jump off!!" ...

Thats me all over, just a different angle on everything than just about everyone I know!! But then I do know a lot of 'reserved' people

I don't think I am nuts, I am quite sensible actually overall ... perhaps not totally sensible, but I am 'logical' and calculated at least ... these ppl are just too 'safe'

How well do you actaully know this guy. From reading your posts it seems to me that he's the kind of person who seems perfectly normal etc. but the you turn the news on one day and there he is, being arrested because the police have found a nuclear bomb, built from stolen goverment equipment, that he built in his shed and was about to sell to Latvia.

Just a thought.
