No need! I have one of these TailSafe bags and it is excellent! Completely waterproof, huge! Vandal-proof, and the cable that locks it to the bike can be used to lock your helmet on to the seat too

Was kinda put off strapped on tailpacks after the bikesafe day, 3 of the 8 police bikers there had had or near had nasty accidents from strapped tailpacks coming loose and locking up the rear wheel

A friend of mine has the pacsafe Tanksafe its very cool, easy to fit to the tank and definitely secure with the magnet base and straps. If you want to take the bag with you it converts quickly into a backpack. And of course it has the same anti-theft features of all pacsafe products.

3 out of 8 coppers telling that story sounds a bit suss to me. I think there may have been a touch of exagertion going on there, or 3 out of the 8 coppers were incapable of using bungees. Most of my mates use tailpacks all the time and only two have lost them off the back only because they were poorly fitted.

I've been using tailpacks for donkey's years, and the only ones I've ever heard of falling off were the result of not being strapped on properly. Even coppers can be a bit slapdash in what they do. There was a court case where a copper's daughter had this happen and she died as a result. The case was thrown out of court after it was proven that she hadn't strapped the thing on well enough.

I use all the bungee mounts that my Oxford Sports one has, with the additional strap under the seat, and then chuck a cargo net over the top. I've toured Europe twice and done many thousands of miles in the UK with it loaded to the hilt and it's never budged an inch.

Don't believe all you hear, there's an awful lot of scaremongering about this kind of thing.

I do worry about the straps breaking occasionally. But only at silly speeds. I got to 138 with the pacsafe on and it was fine. However i'd rather metal clips on the end of the straps!

I always worry about rear luggage falling off. You never know till its too late. Tankbag for me every time.
