You got any hard figures on the MPG thing (and whats the combo of mods you think have affected it)?

I would love to improve my MPG. Tbh if you said removing the snorkle would do that then I'd probaly do it, I wouldn't do it for more power though.

My 'webserver' (read laptop on BBconnection) is down at the moment (HDD died ) so I can't point you to my sad stats page

£10 worth of fuel get's me 133miles or there abouts before the light starts flashing. On a full tank I can run to around the 160 mark before it'll flash. Before the mods, I got 20miles on a flash, and 8 on solid. I haven't tested that recently.

The mods I think have done it, are the snorkel removal, and scorpion exhaust fitting, then removing said exhausts baffle. More air in due to snorkel removal, less back pressure due to exhaust meaning easier to push air out, more air flows out in a given time (I think).

TPS mod has been done (if anything that increases fuel usage, but makes it smoother, which is what counts). Running on 5w40 Castrol might help too. Most of my journey is steady acelleration & braking, probably averaging around 70mph for the 50mile each way journey.

A little bit more sprirted riding in the twisties doesn't seem to affect it that much. We can compare fuel usage this weekend if you like.

That, combined with the slightly warmer weather at the moment.

I removed my SV1000's snorkel, in fact I've got the piperX filter and no airbox, and in 3 years theres no problems. Why go to the point of buying and modding one?
Glad you like it.

thats real good mpg. My concern would be baffleless exhaust + less restrictive filter would result in too lean a mix. Which unfortunately is damaging for your engine (but would explain the mpg increase). You thought about getting the FI remapped?

Yea, and it's on the todo list (or at least get it dyno'd on an A/F rig to check it out).

the bikes done 35,000 miles on my 70 mile a day round trip commute, over the past 3 years, come rain or shine.

dont mention mpg, I have to fill up every other day, so I get approx 100-110 mile to a tank. Mod wise, well most stuff, airfilter, pair removal, race cans, remapped with a yoshi box, etc. etc.

think I'll get a BMC race filter, tank risers then get it remapped Performance gains will be minimal, i just reckon it'd be a cool day out
