I find the SV a bit cramped for getting into a real slapper.
![]() Each to his own though. ![]()

Had a big slapper on the SV, bars lock to lock whilst accelerating in a straight line, changing gear and hitting a hidden bump all at the same time. Thought I was going to be off, used up 1 1/2 lanes of the road. That was on the standard suspension.
I find I often get a small shake of the head coming out of corners. |

Now i know wat we mean, i don't get them. Take my hands off the bars n it does it but seems to be stable, maybe i hold the bars too hard? I've done it a couple of times to see how it feels(okay okay naughty and stupid) and it doesnt feel nice.

I was hard accelerating yesterday, hit 110 as I went over the join between a motorway and bridge- and of course there was a huge bump. Nearly had a tankslapper- scared the **** out of me! That's the first time it's happened though.

Tank slappers aren't fun. I had one at the weekend. doing 70 round a tight bend, started off as high side and for some reason went into a tank slapper.
Not much fun and I'm now looking for bits to re build all the fairing ![]() But we have the technology, so she will be on the road again soon. |

Nothing in the SV, but had an almighty one on a CB500.
Came round a right/left sweepy - 70mph or so, easy corner. Dual carriage way, overtaking a car, road slighty damp. Hit some overbanding spun up and what ensued slowed me down for weeks. Bum out seat, feet off pegs, hands off bars, face over front wheel - my god and i didn't come off. How i'll never know. Scary stuff. |

Not a 100% lock to lock but doing about 115-120 round a long sweeper full throttle, hit a dip and it was a real stuggle to hold on. Suddenly I was a passneger and found myself using the wrong side of the road to let it all calm down. Van coming the other way was not impressed, and being fair it could have been a lot more seroius. A worn rear shock and suspension bearings no doubt played a part.
Had loads of head shakes on the sv and there always fun up to this point, it just the fine line between the bike bouncing around and you really enoying yourself, and oh f*** this is going to hurt. Last edited by tomjones2; 13-06-07 at 01:00 PM. |

Rest assured 120 into a van wouldn't hurt at all.
