They look excellent on the bike.
Was it Sprayed or can you see the brush marks?!?! HEHE Was the polishing done with any special tool, apart from the Elbow!? Seriously though. They look great. you should do 'A HOW TO' on them. |

Very impressive. More info on what you did and how you did it would be cool for interest if nothing else.

i agree ![]() In ans to how did i do them it was all elbo grease but here is the way i did them:- Removed wheels 1 at a time paddock stands a must or if you have a spare set of wheels use those. Had tyres removed removed cush drive and brake discs front and back. Firstly started off with 240 wet and dry and removed paint from around rim keeping the same direction to prevent sandpaper swirling, once all paint off start again on the rim with 800 wet and dry plenty soapy water and do it again this bringing the rim up smoother. Then autosol with a semi rough brown scotch pad apply autosol to rim always keeping the same direction, when thouroughly rubbed in so it looks semi shiney go over it with smooth green scotchpad around rim still again in the same direction to prevent swirling, when done go aroung with a cloth polishing to a high shine. Looks like this:- ![]() The rest of the wheel give it a good rubbing down with brown scotchpad to key the surface. Now with all your rubbing and polishing done get a degrease spray and wipe wheel over after which mask out the area you have polished. 1st coat is a etch primer for alloy apply an even coat over the wheel, give 2 coats 5 mins apart let flash off 2nd coat is the 1st stage colour(dependant on which colour bike is)apply evenly over wheel leaving 5 mins between coats (i gave it about 250ml paint equivalant to 4 coats) 3rd coat is the 2nd stage colour candy clearcoat again apply evenly, the more of this colour you apply the darker the final blue becomes coats 5 mins apart. 4th coat is the 3rd stage clearcoat laquer as the final candy is flashing off start shaking can to mix test the wheel just as its tacky (try it on the masked area) give it a full wet coat of laquer and leave it to dry.1 good wet coat will be enough as it a thick coat be careful not to keep spray in same place as you will get runs then its a lot of messing to get rid. demask after at least a few hours conditions i did it in were in a warm well ventilated area so when all done should look like this masked:- ![]() unmasked:- ![]() good luck and enjoy doing it i did john |
