Well, when our company downsized from 800 to about 40 we moved out of one of our buildings and I had an office/allocated parking/car etc. I.T. then became part of a central corporate rather than local business responsibility. they then moved everyone to a refurbished floor of the same building. Now I ain't got a office, or a desk, parking space, door pass etc. They simply forgot about me. Thank god my salary and car is provided from a different UK office. And they wonder why I now work from home

But as far as HR is concerned. We had a HR manager that had made a career out of making people redundant joined us when we employed about 1600 and managed to get us down to about 800. When we then aquired a related company. We also aquired their HR director.... HMMMM too many HR managers, guess who had to go the director or manager?..

Try raising "Bikers" as an identifiable group. (ie. identifiable by the fact that they arrive at work on bikes) Then the fact that car users are provided individual and uncrowded spaces whereas bikers have inadequaete provision. This could then be construed as victimisation of the group of people (ie technically speaking - racism). In fact if you can dig up data that the majority of bikers are male then you may have grounds for a sexism claim against HR.

Alternatively you could make enquiry about the company's Green Travel Plan (it probably doesnt exist - but a forward thinking and environmentally responsible employer that values the local community would have one)

I guees I better get my coat...

The university where I work used to be a nice place to work. Now Senate is full of the above and lots of other variants as well. Now we mainly shuffle paper, get ****ed off, and try and squeeze in the 'core tasks' we originally came there to do. C'est la vie, now, or so it seems.

Edit....oh an our enlightened travel scheme says that 12 miles away with an alternative 1.5 hour total journey by bus is too close to qualify for a parking space that might be available before the half day cleaners fill them......and which I'd pay for anyhow. At least they havent cracked on to bike parking..yet.

I'm mildly amused that no one has yet risen to the bait to defend these useless appendages to corporate life. Can it be that EVERYONE hates HR?
Lets hope so.

So, whatever is decided (and it should be decided ASAP), you need to make sure it is written down, and noted.
Its amazing how these things are agreed upon, and then slowly changed 8 months later.

Edit: And yeah... HR... underbelly scratching bottom feeders. The lampreys of industry. When the bombs drop, them and the cockroaches are still scuttling about.
