Mine looked like that too, although the very middle bit was alright but where the soft compound started it was all blistered like it had been on a track....
That's also when I found the nail in the tyre ![]()

Don't worry. Done that to an 010 on my B6 the day I got it, after taking the long way home to scrub it in.
Chicken strips gone by the time I got home. ![]() As mentioned, most common time for it to occur is M-way riding, but any constant fast road riding can cause it. |

Still trying to find something accurate to measure the pressure with (don't trust garage things). Gonna see a mate at a garage Weds, should be able to borrow something then. I can ill afford to have tread just peeling away.

I do a lot of miles abroad and different road surfaces cause the prob, some are fine but others like concrete let the tire skip from peak to peak and you get graining. The A27 between Havant and Chichester was dreadful, anything over 80 mph and you could loose half millimeter of tread in 10 miles !

Looks like a tyre that's got hot me, check pressure but I doubt other than that possibility there's anything amiss.

Sorry if it's already been mentioned...but pressure a bit low ?
Mine on my svs does that in hot conditions if i go at high speed on a motorway for approx 100 miles non stop...thats why I try and avoid motorways and stick to proper roads ![]() |

Ok just checked the pressures with the best thing I could find. An old looking (but Halfords branded) thingy you press on and a tube pops out the end. Seems in good nick and gave consistent readings (though no idea on accuracy).
Err embarrasing results. About 22psi on the front (now 36) and something awful on the rear like high 20s (now 42). Gonna be interesting to see how it rides now? |
