Your drive could (should) be shagged then.
I once plugged a USB2.0 Card Reader into a front USB port that some numpty had wired into the Firewire motherboard headers. As a result I got a blown motherboard (Intel i955XBK thingy, replaced under warranty by the system assembler) and a USB2.0 Card Reader that will moan whenever I plug it into a USB2.0 port, and will only work at USB1.1 speeds, whereas it worked correctly before that. |
