I didn't think so, thats why I didn't want to run it without checking first?
But JHS are big boys and they seem know what they are talking about! ![]() |

5bhp..from what we have seen on the dyno..thats a very optimistic figure, more like 2bhp.
TBH running with the lid totally off isnt the best option. Better gains and fueling can be had by modifying the airbox to run half a lid and a baffle. If you keep it like that get your fueling checked. |

Totally agree with Racergirl, taking the airbox lid off anything makes it drastically lean. Airboxes are funny things, I wouldn't mess with them too much, losing a bhp or maybe 2 in favour of stable carburetion is worth it. No comment re. JHS.

Yeah, 5hp would be extremely optimistic. Remember the SV ECU isn't the most advanced in the world at adjusting on the fly so would likely need a remap to avoid running too lean.
Would also probably worry a little about riding in the rain? |

I don't see how that would gain 5bhp personally. yes, the air is more freely available to be sucked in to the engine by induction, but if you have some of the top on, then more air would be "pushed" into the airbox, and make induction easier.
I'd hate to ride on a setup like that in heavy rain. I bet it was fitted with tank raisers as well for max air input. That filter will get dirty QUICKLY and I'd hate to see it get a soaking. |

It looks to me like it would only be practical as a racing mod rather than an everyday riding mod. Take alook at the lip of the frame where your tank goes and see how much crud and dust accumlates there. with this mod, all that rubbish would be transfered into your filter.
Nice for trackdays though !! |

Most of these mods is only good for racing, same with cone filters. You can get a waterproofing spray, but it only works so well.

Thanks for the replys guys!
I think i'll leave it as standard now. I was a bit worried about it running lean. I might try it for one ride and see if it makes any difference? Nevermind, it looked nice whilst it was on, it will have to look nice in the garage now! ![]() |
