Richie,
On a completely unrelated topic, Why are MOD vehicle Diff plates painted white?

Oh, and I'd be tempted to dig a hole, stick the tree back in it and cut it down all over again!

Cheers,
Carl

Not in the Army, but I've always been told that they paint the Diff white, 'cause when they're running at night with no lights on, the driver behind follows the white bit on the vehicle ahead, so they don't get seperated. Could be wrong, but sounds good

Thought they had a white panel that was reflective for the same reason but thought they would need a little light to reflect off it?

They have a small light underneath the vehicle which shines on the rear diff (but can't be seen from the air). When they're travelling in convoy, they switch off all the normal lights and just use this convoy light. The driver behind then follows the light infront.

Yep, The most boring thing to do, a night move following a convoy light....
I remember being on stag (night duty) and my m8 saw a convoy light going away from us, we watched it go over a hill (we thought) then continue to rise up into the sky... what we were looking at was infact, Venus rising....
