I would like to think I wouldn't be stupid enough to help.

I'm not 6 foot 5 or Bruce Lee so I don't have the luxury of being all macho & saying, "Yeah, I'd help out".

Truth is: I'd alert the driver & video the assault for evidence later.

If only we could carry guns!
I've been in similar situations and it's terrifying! I'd love to think I'd rally a few people together to help out - but I wouldn't take them on myself - they always have knives!

there's an old thread i need to dig up for the link ..

Then you'd be the one that got thrown in prison.

Longer jail terms probably wouldn't discourage them, the threat of every man and his dog being well within their right to beat the 7 bells out of anyone commiting a violent crime might. It's not just the legal system that needs to show degenerates like this violence won't be tollerated, it's society. At the moment, we're not allowed to do that.

I think this article is worth a read. I wonder where everyone stand on this. Having been in situations fairly regularly where violence breaks out/ intimidating behaviour from kids/ violence I still am yet to step in. I've chased kids before, but only when in a situation when I know I will win. I've also bailed out of situations when they take a violent turn knowing I'll get a kick in - but at the possible expense of someone elses nose (nothing I'm proud of but I'd do the same again)

Jeremey Vines Experience - also quite a good article

Relevant links- just small articles but they're interesting first one actually says where the law stands - you'd be suprised what you can get away with!

Well i guess if they were found to have a knife on them then my using a fire extinguisher could be argued as being "reasonable force" ...if not then yeh, i'd be in trouble. What a joke eh?

And you're right, if the criminals lived in fear of the repercussions they got from the public at large it'd be a damn sight better than the public living in fear of criminals.

Reminds me of predator 2 when the old lady pulls the gun out on a packed train,

But yeah they know most we never help, and I bet if they did they would think twice. Would just like to think that if I was in trouble ppl would come to my aid just like I think you would too
