It makes a difference to the premium, as if it gets nicked the insurers may have to pay out a higher sum. I always value it more than its actually worth, since they will try and knock you down on price if you bin it, or nicked etc.

i find the value doesnt really affect the premium price at all. I have a bike valued at 2000 when its only worth 600..... tried another qoute at 600 which was just the same as 2000

I'm wondering if it's worth calling the insurers and saying that my bike is actually worth more than I stated (insured for £1600).....or is it the case that now that I have told them how much I thought it was worth at the beginning of the policy, that is the final value they'll accept. After all, the bike has had regular oil changes
